GiiNii’s innovative Movit Mini social networking and communications device severs dependence on mobile phone carriers

International CES 2009

LAS VEGAS – Jan. 8, 2009 – Take the ease-of-use of touch-screen mobile phones and portable music players, increase the screen size to 4.3 inches, throw in Skype and you’ve got the new Movit Mini from GiiNii International (www.giinii.com), developer of The Next New innovations in consumer electronics for everyone.

Introduced today at CES, this innovative mobile social networking and communications device features the Skype application (www.skype.com), so it’s ready to use anywhere in the world through a Wi-Fi network. Users can make and receive VoIP calls at home or work, in cafes or through municipal access. Or they can connect through a mobile phone hot spot subscription from the provider of their choice.

Movit Mini also is the ultimate portable social networking device, easily slipping into a purse, tote or briefcase. Now, anywhere users are they can conveniently connect to social networks, surf the Web, watch videos and view photos on a screen that is so large and simple to use, content is easy to see and navigate.

“Our new Movit Mini lets users sever the tether to mobile phone carriers,” said GiiNii President Scott Reeves. “Consumers only need to be in a Wi-Fi hotspot to enjoy the savings of making all of their calls on Skype. Since the unit is Wi-Fi capable, users can keep up with their social networking sites, surf the Internet, send and receive e-mail and instant messages, receive RSS feeds, get weather updates, play games and more.”

The Movit Mini sports a huge, 4.3-inch touch-screen that is visually dazzling and easy to use. The unit also lets users play music and videos, and it has a video camera for webcam and still photos.

Other features include:

  • 480 x 272 resolution
  • 256 MB of storage
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Built-in microphone/speaker
  • Stereo headset jack
  • Mini USB 2.0 port
  • Camera
  • Calculator
  • Address book
  • Alarm

GiiNii also introduced an in-home model, the Movit Maxx, with similar functionality that sports a minimum screen size of 7 inches. What looks like an attractive, thin digital picture frame is actually a portable interactive Internet appliance with a built-in lithium-ion battery, so it can go anywhere. Today’s headlines and sports updates stream to the portable panel to keep users informed in the kitchen, living room, bedroom or anywhere in a home.

“With its enormous, stunning touch-screen, Skype functionality and all of its other features, we expect the Movit Mini will give retailers a tremendous sales boost this year,” Reeves said. “Both the Movit Mini and the Movit Maxx are examples of “The Fourth Panel” evolution, where smart, connected panels bring tremendous value to users at prices that are within reach of most consumers.”

GiiNii currently is taking orders for its Movit Mini for delivery in mid-2009. Movit Maxx will be ready for delivery by late summer 2009. GiiNii’s CES booth is in South Hall 1, Booth No. 21244.
